WERO Honey

Our Mānuka Honey

Mānuka honey is made by bees from the flower nectar of the South Sea Myrtle, which grows in the dry coastal areas of the North and South Islands of New Zealand. The bees process the nectar into honey in the honeycombs. The characteristic methylglyoxal (MGO) is formed by the multiple rearrangements, the addition of enzymes and bacteria via the salivary glands of the bees and the very high dihydroxyacetone content of the plant.

Our Product range

100% pure, independently tested Mānuka honey, which has unique characteristic compounds that ensure purity and quality.

A wide range of different MGO contents characterises our Mānuka honey range - for every need. The higher the MGO content, the stronger the concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO). Our range includes Mānuka honey from 300+ to 1050+ MGO.

OUR GIFT FROM OUR land TO THE WORLD

The land

We love looking after our bees because they are our most important workers! Our hives are located at various rural Mānuka sites in beautiful Aotearoa (New Zealand).

origin

Wero Honey, the authentic Mānuka honey is produced by our Maori team (indigenous people of New Zealand) thanks to the support of local landowners and farmers. The colonies are placed in the purest possible Mānuka forests in remote areas, including hills and valleys in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand.

Harvest

At harvest time, our team of beekeepers collects the honeycombs. The second step is the extraction process of the valuable Mānuka honey, in which the honey is extracted (removed) from the closed combs. After separation, we check the honey for taste and quality to ensure the high Wero standard.

Maturation

After storage, our honey is tested by an independently accredited laboratory to meet quality as well as national and international health authority guidelines. The honey is natural and authentic, we are always working to bring our honey to the highest purity and quality.

Verification

The world

After a patient and dedicated process, our delicious Wero Mānuka honey is finally bottled in containers in New Zealand. The containers are made in Aotearoa (New Zealand) from BPA-free, recyclable materials - for safe enjoyment and pleasure!

Process

The high quality of pure Mānuka honey is due to our bees and beekeepers; who work with love, efficiency and expertise to harvest, process, store and bottle.

In New Zealand, these processes are meticulously controlled by the MPI (Ministry for Primary Industries) and various requirements are imposed on us by RMP (Risk Management Programmes for bee products). These include traceability, hygienic packaging, storage and truthful labelling.

TESTING

Mānuka honey that comes from New Zealand must be independently tested and pass the established test of the scientific definition of Mānuka honey by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). This test includes five characteristics. Four of these are chemical and one is Leptospermum Scoparium DNA. The honey must pass all five tests to be called Mānuka honey.
